Wole Sentimenta, born Mayowa Oluwole Olukayode, is an Afro music artist who hails from the vibrant city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. Coming from the ancestral descent of the Ojudoba tribe in Nigeria, Wole was destined to bring the rhythms of his heritage to the world stage.
Wole’s musical journey began at the tender age of 11 when he joined the choir, where his passion for music ignited. At just 13 years old, he wrote his first afro-centric gospel song titled ‘I GO SING’ and received recognition as the best young gospel artist at the Fetshiter Music Festival held in Lagos in 1997.
After studying mass communication at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State, Wole formed his own band called Da Uptimist in 2008. Specializing in Afro, Jazz, and High Life music, Wole’s band captivated audiences with their infectious rhythms and soulful melodies.
In 2013, Wole embarked on a journey across African countries, sharing his music and culture with audiences far and wide. During this time, he collaborated with the French-based band ‘Black Bazzar’ on the track ‘THE SWEET HOME,’ showcasing his versatility and global appeal.
His talent caught the attention of management company “Sociallycued-pro International” in Texas, USA, who secured him a record deal with Tate Music Group in Oklahoma. His debut album, released on June 3rd, 2014, featured 10 tracks that showcased his unique sound and musical prowess.
Throughout his career, Wole has graced prestigious stages such as the annual celebration of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti at the Felabration Festival and the Lagos International Jazz Festival in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Additionally, Wole hosted his annual live concert titled ‘Sentimellogroove’ in 2016, captivating audiences with his original African blend of Afro, Jazz, and High Life music.
Beyond his musical endeavors, this musician is deeply passionate about giving back to his community. He travels on tour with charity organizations across African countries, using his music as a tool for positive change and empowerment.
