We are so happy that a place of such sad history has been transformed to a place of celebration and symbol of freedom. I have been taken on a guided tour by young Daniel - a gifted tour guide with articulate delivery and excellent knowledge of the site's history. The credit of preserving this history goes to the Government of Lagos State under Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola's leadership, who had the enlightenment to embrace Arch. Theo Lawson's vision to preserve this evidence of colonial correction's history. Well done, all impressive must be supported.

History is frozen and preserved for our generations to come. I have been in Prisons for many years as a political prisoner, my visit here reminded me of my own journey. I felt proud of the years of struggle. Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his comrades represent the conscience and conviction of humanity. May their souls continue to rest in peace.
